Earlier this week, I wrote a post on Food Colorings and ADHD, explaining that the FDA was reviewing information on a possible link between artificial food coloring and ADHD symptoms. This panel has indicated that it believes further study is needed on whether artificial food colorings do cause hyperactivity but they are not recommending banning these products or adding a warning label to foods.
The panel decided there was not enough evidence at this time to show that these products cause hyperactivity although they do believe that, in some children, the dyes can cause behavioral problems and eliminating dyes for these children can help improve behavior.
