At age 25, Steven was running out of jobs. He had already worked for more fast food restaurants than he cared to count, most of those by the time he was 20. Since then, Steven has worked all kinds of jobs, from factory work to cleaning offices. All of them lasted, in his good cycles, from 6 mon...

Thank you so much Eileen for sharing Steven's story. And Steven, if you're reading this, welcome to your adult years.

I attended a training on the brain years ago and was shocked, absolutely shocked to learn that the brain is still growing and developing until age 25. I don't know where the idea that we are an adult at age 18 or even age 21 came from. Science doesn't support it.

Over the years, I have come to know well two adults with bipolar disorder and ADD. And yes, while it is more challenging coping with two brain disorders, both are enjoying more success with each passing year. They are in their 30's and 40's today.

They did exactly what you're doing. They did what they had to do, allowed their friends and family to support them as needed, pursued their interests as they were able, kept track of what worked, what didn't, and made the best choices they could based on their previous experiences and interests.

That said, as we continue to gain more experience in life, that which was not possible before suddenly becomes possible. Life is full of surprises!

Thanks again for sharing your story. I wish you all the best Steven.
