Boy, that was a tough one to get through. I'd hoped for a happy ending.
There are good lessons to be learned here. As much as we love our children, there comes a time, as adults, that we sometimes have to let go and let them fly- or fall. In this case, Mary did everything she possibly could to help her son, but he wasn't ready to take on the responsibility of getting the proper help.
But I am betting that he would be worse off had she allowed him to stay at her house.
I hope he finds his way, gets the help he needs, and blossoms.
