Depression is one of the most common co-existing conditions that accompany ADHD. Many of us know the signs of depression:

 

  • Depressed mood
  • Irritability
  • Loss of appetite or overeating
  • Loss of desire to participate in activities that once provided pleasure

 

But the signs of depression in teens can be different than symptoms in adults. When depression is recognized early and treatment begins, there is a better chance of avoiding such self-medication measures as abusing drugs and alcohol.
