You fail to mention seeking out a consult with an Audiologist as well.  Many children are actually misdiagnosed with ADHD when in reality they have an auditory processing disorder (APD). In an APD, auditory signals are mixed up in the child's brain and s/he either cannot understand what is being said, or misinterprets what is being said.  Think of sitting in a lecture being conducted in a foreign language...you get bored and fidgety.  And you get frustrated.  It is imperative to have any child that is "diagnosed" with ADHD to also have a complete audiological workup and an Auditory processing evaluation as well.
