I much prefer a quiet celebration with close family and friends.  Too much chaos is overwhelming to me!

    Hi Eileen,

I like about 1/3 of the hustle and bustle and 2/3 happy and harmonious.  I enjoy shopping if I have money to shop.  If I have to shop and I'm struggling financially I avoid it because it depresses me even more.  I have to be mentally prepared for malls and such.  But I can have a lot of fun with it as long as I'm not stressed, pressured or in between blessings (without money).  Sadly, I've only had one holiday in 40 years like that so I try to avoid the season altogether if I can.

I grew up in a toxic family, it's still toxic today.  With my severe ADHD and being the only one in recovery it makes the holiday season a very difficult time for me.  I do enjoy them if the circumstances are right.  I don't set myself up with expectations though.
