Question of the Week: Do You Have a Hard Time Choosing Gifts for Your Child with ADHD?

Eileen Bailey Health Guide
  • From the time my son was a preschooler, he wanted art sets for Christmas. Crayons, markers, paint, and paper. Well meaning friends and relatives always questioned my choice of presents, saying things like, "Wouldn't he like a truck instead?" But year after year, I bought art sets. This year, at age 24, my son is still asking for paint markers. He laughs when I tell this story and says, "What would I have done with trucks?"

When buying gifts, it is so important not to give into the popular toys or the toys you want your child to like. It is important to look at each child, individually, and find the toys and gifts that build upon their strengths.

    So my question this week:

Do you have trouble finding toys for your child with ADHD? What types of gifts do you buy?
