About Me

My name is Scott.  I am thankful for this forum.  I went to talk with a therapist in mid-December 2007 about my ADHD and Asperger's.  I compensated for everything in my entire life until August 2007, when I was diagnosed officially with AD/HD and then Asperger's, only a few weeks later.  When I first found out I had AD/HD (after being fired from a position), I was in utter disbelief and couldn't believe these things I did that led to my being fired.  I kept saying again and again, "This isn't me.. if I didn't have AD/HD, I wouldn't have acted anywhere close to this."  It took me sometime before I began accepting my AD/HD and then Asperger's.

Since that time, I have come further along at the acceptance stage of both conditions.  I am beginning to no longer care if people choose to be ignorant of me or try to be "polite" around me, because I have AD/HD and Asperger's.   I have many days when I take many steps forward and hardly any backwards.  However, I have days when I felt like I never took a step forward but many backwards.  Overall, I feel like I am making progress in my journey.

I do not have any health insurance at this time, and I have had to make some crucial decisions as to how much I can afford to pay for my medicine w/o insurance for now. So, I am not taking Adderall XR at this time. I do my best with both ADHD and Asperger's by eating as healthy as possible and doing things will keep my ADHD and Asperger's under control.  My insurance coverage goes into effect in February/March 2008, depending on when the company I have been temp'ing at decides to make me a permanent employee there.

Other than that, I am glad to know I no longer need to hide behind anything or to compensate for having AD/HD and Asperger's.
