My son is driving me nuts... what do I do?

I have a child that has sever ADHD and is on 40mg of Focalin XR. He does very well at school but by the evening he is all over the place and has no attention span. He screams, throws stuff. Is this normal for an 11 year old child. I have mild ADHD and I feel jumbled when he acts out because i do not understand what to doin this situation... No other medication has worked...
