What's Your Story for the New Year

By David Giwerc Monday, December 27, 2010

What's Your New Story for the New Year?

What's the theme of your story going to be this year?
You are probably aware that the power of your mind can either propel or prohibit you from taking focused, forward- moving action.
You are probably aware of what positive messages can do for your brain. Yet, most of you never go to a "proactive place" because
you have established strong patterns that you actually feel comfortable living with every day. You feel safe with the story that you
have created, even though you know it does not serve you well.

What's the story you really want to write about?
Is it about something you really want to pursue but have talked yourself out of?
Is it about the things that you feel you have to do to please others?
Or, is it going to be the story you have been really "wanting to write" but you have been stuck writing the first word?
Get out of stuck and get into success! Take the right kind of action and adjust the results, of your actions, as they show up.
It is the only way to truly experience success.

To launch success, you have to pay attention to your own meaningful story, the one igniting your heart and in harmony with the logic of your head.
It doesn't have to be perfect.
It doesn't have to be great.
It doesn't have to meet a specific expectation of success.
It does have to be your own sincere story and mean something very powerful to you. Now is the time to edit your old story.

You can create a new plot supporting the true picture of "who" you want to be.

The bottom line is that you are the only one who has the power to change your current story. You possess a great power which is rarely used.
It is the power of choice. You have the power, to pause, in any given moment and make the choices that serve your best interests, goals or mission.
No one makes you do anything that you don't want to do.
Stop procrastinating.
Take the action.
Launch your own success story today! You have the power, you have the choice.
So, when are you going to start?

All the best,

Happy New Year!!!!!!

In 2011, I'm taking chances and will live a proactive lifestyle.  I try to be perfect but have learned this year that it only gets me stuck in analysis mode.  I'm casting perfection to the wind to live among the humans that surround me.  Thanks D.G. for all you have done for the world of ADHD.

Dear TJ,

I love your words: "I'm casting perfection to the wind to live among the humans that surround me." You and I both know that when perfection is the objective, being proactive becomes buried. After all, how can anything that we can not clearly define be something that we attempt to achieve? How can something without a flaw & does not exist become the goal of our actions? Casting the illusion of perfection to the winds is such a wise way of reminding ourselves that  perfection really needs to be blown away, completely, from our minds so that we can give ourselves permission to be fully human-- to be proactive, as you said and witness the results of our actions. We can then revise them so that they move us forward to a place we have never been before. We no longer are worried about being perfect. We are just being part of living and experiencing what we choose to do. Thanks for your very wise words and kind acknowledgment.

Wishing you a happy and fulfilling New Year!!
