Talk too much, procrastinate, scattered here, there and everywhere on the map. And a 16 yo son with ADHD!! It is hard enough to parent myself, much less my son. And who invented those games?? And why did I ever submit to letting him have those games?? Arrgghh. I would have loved to have been involved in a web site like this before pc's were around, it would have really helped my suffering esteem.

You  summed   up my life in a nutshell,45 and still suffer from procrastination and orginazation has always been a problem. i take meds  3x a day.Are you on meds?

Yes, on concerta and buproprion. Some days I don't think I could get anything accomplished without the meds, other days I think they don't help. Has been about 7-8 years on meds, but first 2 years was trying to see what worked.

Yes I have recently switched from Adderal CR to Vyvanse.  I receive my meds and cognitive behavioral therapy from a psychiatrist.  I have been taking Adderall for about 4 years and it has worked well for me.  Recently I have had more feeling of not functioning at my best, with the feeling of being overwhelmed with my "to do list" to the point of not taking any action.  Vyvanse has a smoother transition into my system and then a smoother end to the day.  I am okay with how it compares to Adderall but am hopeful to find a way to make myself "take action" or a medicsation to help me further focus on taking action on tasks.  Has anyone found an additional medicine to ad to Adderall daily doseage to help my dysfunction?

It all sounds like me. I'm never organized, forget where I put things and I'm a real procrastinator. I'm 61 and I've lived with this for years now and my doctor put me on Vyvase for ADHD. I really like it but I feel really sleepy and I don't know what to do about it. Another doctor had put me on Provigil because I just couldn't keep awake. So I'm wondering if the two of them together would work for me. I've fought staying awake for years and it's not to the point where I fall asleep in conversations or just at the drop of a hat. The other day I came in the house and I was really hungry, but at the same time I was really, very sleepy and I didn't know which one to do first...eat or sleep. I finally just laid down because my sleepiness was so strong. I noticed that one of the side affects of Vyvanse, in large letters is Sleepiness. So I guess I'll have to talk it over with my doctor. Before I started taking Vyvanse I was the opposite. I couldn't sleep at night and had to have sleeping pills and it was horrible. But my best hours are at night. It's always been that way and I've tried to get the circadium rhythm around the other way but depression is in play also for which I take prozac. There are days I feel SO good from Vyvanse. Days like I've not felt since I was a kid, but other times I'm sleepy...but I think maybe Vyvanse works with what you're doing at the time, maybe. The times I've been out running around, I seem to have a lot more energy and I'm happy...but If I'm sitting down just watching t.v. I can fall asleep real easy...but sometimes, like I said....I have to chose between doing one thing or sleeping...I'm bipolar too and things are really crazy at times.....

Note: I am not a doctor!  But I have heard that too high of a dose of the stimulant family of medication (which Vyvanse is) may cause drowsiness.  Ask your prescribing doctor about this!

I was diagnosed with ADHD almost 2 wks ago. I started with 5mg Adderall IR; it made me sleepy and not focused at all. I then took 10mg the following day, which didn't make me sleepy, but still continue to have no focus. My doc gave me Vyvanse 20mg today and told me to take it up to 60mg if I didn't think it help my attention. An hour after the first 20mg, I was so sleepy, so I took another one. 30min. later, I had to take a 2hr nap. After the nap, I took another 20mg, and noticed I was able to concentrate better, without feeling agitated like the adderall. As for the sleepiness, I am not sleepy any more, though that maybe because I took a 2 hr nap.

I have searched all over the internet to see if people get sleepy after taking ADHD amphetamines, and apparently, it is not common, though it does happen.  I asked my pharmacist and he actually told me that it is one of the side effects, at least with the adderall and focalin. I haven't had a chance to ask him about the Vyvanse. When I told my doctor about the Adderall making me sleepy, she couldn't believe it and never heard of sleepiness as a side effect. However, my psychologist told me that when his dose is too low, he gets sleepy too (he is also ADHD).

So my point is, contrary to the response that too high a dose make you sleepy, I think it is opposite. I think maybe your dose is too low.

I have been on Vyvanse for over a year now for ADHD and i first started out taking 30mg/day. It has helped me so much ever since i started, but lately i have been getting EXTREMELY sleepy after taking it in the morning. I found it strange b/c i've been on the 70mg for about 10 months now and i am just now feeling this sleepy side affect. Has anyone else felt this before? I'm already on the highest dose for vyvanse so im not sure if increasing the dose would help.
