August 2010 in Review

By CRegal, Editor Tuesday, August 31, 2010

On this, the last week before Labor Day, we must stop and remember the great summer that we just had. Wait. What?! The summer is over!? I, for one, do not approve.

We celebrated the back-to-school month here at ADHDCentral with some hard-hitting advice for parents and from parents.

We had our monthly chat with Candace Sahm, ADHD advocate and coach on August 31.  Click here for the transcript of the chat!

We provided a downloadable guide for you to print out on how to write an IEP.

Deborah Gray brought the perspective of the mother with ADHD of an ADHD child.  She contributed pieces on helping keep your child organized, meditation and ADHD, simplying the organizational process, and how to overcome your child's reluctance to taking medication.

Merely Me tackled some interesting topics that were raised in questions around the site.  She answered whether or not there was a link between shopping addiction and ADHD and how stuttering relates to ADHD.  She also wrote a personal story about dealing with impulsivity in an ADHD child.  Merely Me also wrote an important piece to understanding ADHD: 10 Things You May Not Known About ADHD.

I wrote a piece this month about the confusion over ADHD diagnostics.

Eileen Bailey also addressed donating blood with ADHD and using music therapy to treat ADHD symptoms.  She also issued a question of the week on the first day of school.

Finally, Eileen also finished the ADHD Glossary.

On the back end, we created three quizzes this month: ADHD vocabulary quiz 1, ADHD vocabulary quiz 2, and Is it ADHD or something else?

Was there anything we missed during back to school month?

Here's wishing a great start of the school year to you and your child!
