June 2010 in Review

By CRegal, Editor Monday, June 28, 2010

And thus, we conclude another fantastic month over at ADHD Central!  Thank you all for participating in the community!  This is a vibrant, active and energetic group with some great experts. Again, thank you.  We hope you enjoy the site.

In case you missed anything, here are some quick-hits:

Eileen Bailey brought us posts on When Dad Has ADHD and How ADHD Symptoms Appear in "Real Life."   Preparing for summer, Eileen also provided some Tips for Managing ADHD in Children During the Summertime

We would also like to congratulate Eileen on her new book, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Adult ADHD.  This is very exciting for her, and you can read an excerpt from the book in her post.  Check it out, then go buy the book!

Merely Me provided some pre-summer information on how to Successfully Vacation with Your ADHD Child and offers Five Non-Prescription Ways to Treat ADHD Symptoms.  She also provided the first part in a series analyzing symptoms of ADHD, covering hyperactivity.

Robb Mapou, Ph.D. answered a valuable question for our readers: What IS a Learning Disability?

Our experts also discovered that a sorely under-covered topic is involving ADHD in men.  Eileen delivered a post on the subject and Merely Me pulled together some valuable resources on men and ADHD.

Eileen also gave us some GREAT Questions of the Week for June that you should check out.  They included: Step-parenting and ADHD, How Young is Too Young for Medication, and ADHD and Picking/Pulling Skin.

Outside of our experts, things have still been churning along with the ADHD page.  We have created quizzes on Alternate Treatment, IEP and Section 504, and the Side Effects of ADHD Medication.  How much do you know about these subjects?

We also have up two new downloadable guides for parents: 12 Things Teens Want Teachers to Know and Tips for Winning the Homework Wars. Print these out and keep them handy!

Finally, we have created some pages to pull together related material.  Check out:

Academic Problems

ADHD in College

For Teachers

School Behavior

HW Study Skills

IEPs, Section 504, and Accommodations

Medication Side Effects

See you in July!  Enjoy the summer everyone!
