It is important for patients to receive an accurate diagnosis and medical treatment to manage the symptoms of ADHD.  It is equally important for patients, and their families, to have a support system available. The support of a community provides a place to be accepted, to share triumphs and failures, to swap ideas and strategies for coping with ADHD on a daily basis.  Through this community, people can take a proactive role in managing symptoms and creating successes in their lives.  Health Central is such a community.

I hope that you find this site to be helpful in your situation and please feel free to email me should you have any questions.

I read your share post and find them to be sincere and nice and informative.  I enjoy reading from others whom share my troublesome existance because of adhd,  I also have wonderful times as well.  I just get so frustrated with myself.  When I say I love my adhd brain, I really do mean it.  It has a quality all of it*s very own.  Can it be distracting and has goten me in a lot of hot water so very many times.  I just didnT know I had adhd.  I did some of the self medication route, but not to the extent some otheres have fallen into.  Of course one may try to self medicate, especially when you come across doctors whom think adhd is a myth and an excues for not getting important things done ad fin um.  I want to try Ritilin.  I have not tried the stimulants, but tried xanax once just to cool my brain off, it was prescribed medicine, but was not the correct medicine.  I just wanted to cool my brain off for awhile, but wrong meds don*t work obviously.  I am going to get on Ritilin even if I have to change doctors.  I would love to see if there is a difference in how I get things done. I realize there probably is not one good answer for an affliction that is so difficult, but I must try something new and hopefully I*ll get some good response

Thanks for your kind words. I am glad that information I have shared has been useful to you.

Many people find positive results from stimulant medication. Unfortunately, everyone reacts to medication differently so it can be a matter of trial and error to find the right medication and the right dose that works for you. Don't give up, with the help of a doctor, you should be able to find help for symptoms of ADHD that interfere with your life.
