Taking Adderall with Alcohol leads to memory loss?

By bybenyi Wednesday, April 20, 2011

I took about 40mg of Adderall during the day and later that night, decided to go out and have a couple of drinks with my friends. At the moment, I wasn't feeling the affects of the Adderall and drank about 5 glasses of beer and the next thing I know I blacked out and woke up with my friends restraining me from attacking one of our friends. I usually drink a lot more than 5 beers and I would be still ok and this was during the span of about 1-2 hours. My friends told me I had become violent and started to attack my friends outside the bar and that when they tried to help me, I would run away from them and started screaming weird things. They even said I had hallucinated about the government controlling my brain. I am not a violent person, nor have I ever got into a fight into my life. I need to know if what had happened to me because I have absolutely no memory of what had happened during the time I had blacked out. Is there any relation between the adderall and alcohol that could have caused this? I was wondering if anyone else had these kinds/similar experiences with adderall and alcohol.

Hi there

I am sorry this happened to you...it sounds like a very frightening experience.  If you look at various forums on this topic...there are many people who have had extreme adverse reactions to mixing alcohol with Adderall.

I had written an article about why alcohol and Adderall don't mix.  You may want to read it and the comments too to understand what may happen when you combine these two substances.

Let us know how you are doing in the days and weeks to come.  Thank you for sharing your story here.

I have ADHD and I only took a suppliment L-Tyrosine. But it seemed when I would drink I would not feel as well and I would get spacier. I do not drink anything now and for me I am much better without drinking. The best to you. Next time I sugest to try a soft drinks.
