Hello,
I have been living with ADHD most of my life. I wasn't diaganoised until I was in my mid 30's. I knew there was always something wrong but could never put my finger on it. It was a great sense of relief after the doctor gave me the diaganosis. I finally didn't feel crazy. It's been about 10 years now since I have been living with the realization that I have ADHD..to tell you the truth not much has changed. I am still impulsive..well maybe not as much. I am on medication and pretty well controled. Before the meds I was on were not right at all. So in that area it's better. But the medication does not fix everything. I still forget alot, get hyperfocused alot and get side tracked alot. I have a really hard time keeping appointments that I make in the AM. I could go on but I did not get on here to ramble. I also have one son who is 17 who definatly has ADHD and currently is off his meds...not a good idea. I am in the process of getting him back on his medication and formalizing his 504 plan at school.
My goal for ths spot was to help anyone that I could with my experience that I have. I am a healthcare worker, so when I was told I had ADD I at least knew enough about it and what to do and what medications I should and should not be taking. Most folks are not that wel informed. If you have any questions..please ask. Or, if you have any comments, please do so.
Have a Blessed Day
Julie
