WORK & ADD

HI ALL...

 

I'M NOT NEW TO LIVING WITH ADD, SEEM I HAD IT SINCE A KID, FINALLY FOUND OUT WHY I SAT NET TO TEACHERS DESK IN 6TH GRADE...TEACHER TOLD PARENTS I "VISITED WITH MY NEIGHBORS TOO MUCH" & DAD WROTE BACK PERHAPS IT WOULD BE BETTER IF I SAT AWAY FROM NEIGHBORS.....HA HA HA....I FINALLY  READ ALL THAT WHEN MY DAD DIED & LEFT US KIDS OUR OLD REPORT CARDS.....FUNNY HOW I REMMEBER THAT...

 

NOW I WORK IN A HECTIC REHABILITATION THERAPY FIELD OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY IN A NURSING HOME....SEEMS EVERYONE TALKS ALL OVER EACH OTHER...RADIO ON IN BACKGROUND...& I GET VERY DISTRACTED  IN MY DAYS...

 

BUT I SEEM TO BE LEARNING TO TUNE OUT THE "noise"...BUT TO OTHERS IT SEEMS LIKE I'M NOT LISTENING & LOOK SPACED SOMEITMES....

 

ANYONE ELSE LEARNING TO MANAGE THEIR WORK DISTRACTIONS???

 

I'D SURE LIKE SOME POINTERS....THANKS FOR LISTENING....

I, as well can remember those days at school (long ago!).  Also, I had worked in a very busy medical professional setting.  No doubt, depending on the craziness of the day, I would consume large amts. of coffee and often get to breaktime or mealtime late in the shift.  Though my ADD was not yet diagnosed, I now know how particular scenarios made things pretty difficult for me to juggle.  May I suggest that if you consume caffiene, that you do NOT. or drink very little.  Also, eat healthy foods and keep simple snacks available.  Try to stay on a good bedtime routine.   If you feel comfortable to share with some folks the fact that you have ADD, perhaps they would be sensitive to some of your behavior and even helpful in ways to make your job less "crazy" at times for you (and maybe for them).  Do you take any prescribed ADD med?...That may be the best advise of all.  GOOD LUCK!!!Wink

thanks marsha for to info...unfortunately I DO consume LOTS of coffee  plus on adderall....wow some days i really fly thru my days... but it seems to help w/concentration and mind clarity....i also try to eat healthy  like atkins 0r south beach with lots od B vitamins seem to do me well...once in while i sprulge....mostly still habe trouble being organized at home...work is different because case notes are due on specific days so it prompts me to be ontime & organized...
