I haver known about Dr. Amen's 6 types for over 4 years. I really wish that there would be more research on these types, especially the overfocused type, because that is what I am! (For more info on this type, please see Dr. Lynn Weiss' books on ADD.)
The overfocused type can be described as being overly concerned with details, with concentrating on picky things, not being able to let go of something, being very "intense"... in other words, being able to focus (yes) on way too narrow a subject for way too narrow a time, to the exclusion of what should take priority!
Anyway, for those of us who have this type, stimulants just make our symptoms worse!. I have finally found some relief with strattera, although it is more gradual and less "dramatic", but at least it involves some change for the better. Does anyone else have comments? Hannah3

Thanks for your response to my post on Dr. Amern's 6 Types of ADHD.
I would be interested in hearing more about your experience. Were you seen in one of Dr. Amen's clinics? Have you been following the treatment that is outlined for this type of ADHD? I would love to hear how this is working for you.
