Yesterday's Session

By Alice Hale Friday, April 18, 2008

I saw my counselor yesterday and I spoke to her about how she made me feel. She admitted hat she might have been a little hard on me and apologized. I had already spoken to her about it once over the phone but I didn't feel that she really understood what I was saying and that I had said everything I wanted to say. This time after speaking to her I did. Every week I turn in a symptom management logs to her so she can get an idea of how I have been doing. When I handed them into her she looked at them and was really impressed by what a quick turn aound there had been. We talked a little bit about what could be contributing to my feeling better. It seemed that we had run out of things to talk about rather quickly. She told me that she wasn't going to make me do the schedule if I didn't want to but she would suggest that I continue doing it if it is working.  I was much happier with the way this session went.  Thanks for all of your support and advice.

Alice,

Thanks for the update and congrats to you! You had the courage to tell her exactly how you felt. Keep up the great work in your sessions!

Yea, I feel that we are. She said that she could tell something was different when I walked in yesterday because I was taking better care of myself. She said that she didn't meant to make me feel as if I was beyond help she was just trying to say that her goal is to help me and that if she can't she needs to find someone who can but that she might've gone about saying it the wrong way.

Alice,

I'm so glad everything went much better! You sound a lot better.  Keeping logs is difficult!  Hope all is well and that you have a good weekend!Gwyn!

Alice

This is such good news. I am so glad that everything went better for you this week. As Terry said, it was great that you were able to talk with her about how you felt and it must have been a great feeling to know that she listened and heard you.

Have you decided whether you are going to keep up the logs?

Keep us posted.

I will keep doing the logs and I will probably keep some sort of routine but it won't be a schedule.
