About Me

Hmm, don't know what to write here that would sound profound enough to catch your attention. ATTENTION! That do it? :-) I am a mother to two little boys, one who has ADHD the other we don't know yet because he's too young! We are still in the early stages of treatment for him but what we are doing is working wonderfully. I have my sweet little boy back again, not the crazy spaz-monkey I've been dealing with 15 out of the 24 hours day for the past two years. Sound familiar to anyone? On his medication he is calm, snuggly, and able to focus on tasks be they learning, or chores, it's pretty cool. Please know, we did not give him medication lightly, it was an agonizing decision, but it has been a good decision for him and us thus far. Having just been diagnosed myself with ADHD @ 35 it's been really interesting reading the educational material available on this and the affiliated websites. It's been amazing reading descriptions and saying, "Hey, that's me! I do that because of ADHD? Well no wonder!" It's been cathartic to say the least. A lot of puzzle pieces are falling into place that just wouldn't fit with my Chronic Depression diagnosis of 10+ years. It took a new town and a new psychiatrist, who did not just take the last guys word for it and renew my long-term antidepressants, to find ADHD. He asked questions I hadn't been asked before, things about my childhood I had never thought were significant; and, many questions later, diagnosed me as ADHD (non-hyperactive), in addition to my long-term depression. We with ADHD tend to have more than one psychiatric diagnosis but often the ADHD traits are overlooked if we are able to cope, don't have the "obvious" hyper signs, or were never diagnosed as children. The field of knowledge is growing and I am very thankful for that as I am so much better now! (not perfect, just better, you know?) Be well all! familynut P.S. Did I babble enough? Yeah? Well, yay me! *snerk* P.P.S. I had spaces in-between my paragraphs, I swear!
