ADHD has been part of my life since...oh, since I was born! But I didn't know that until about 13 years ago, when I was trying to learn how to best help my youngest daughter, who has ADHD (and lots of other challenges).
What a wake-up call to find out that I had it too! Since then, I turned that information into a wonderful journey, beginning with doing volunteer work for CHADD (www.chadd.org) and ADDA (www.add.org). I soon became my local CHADD chapter coordinator for many years, while also serving on the board of directors at ADDA, including a stint as its vice president.
My journey continued when I started a private practice (I'm a psychotherapist), working with adults and families with ADHD. But due to my own daughter's needs, I took my practice online, so that I could work from home, and launched ADD Consults, at www.addconsults.com and www.myADDstore.com. I love connecting with people from all over the world!
I am also the author of "Survival Tips for Women with AD/HD", published in 2005, and am a frequent presenter at local and national conferences.
In my free time, I make art and music. I'm a professionally trained artist and have shown my work in Michigan, Ohio and New York. I also am an amateur musician and enjoy both my home-based art and music studios. In addition, I love to read, but have this tendency of starting a book before finishing the last.
Married 29 years to my wonderful husband, Jerry, I have two young adult daughters; Kate and Mackenzie.
