Hi again!
You ask some important questions! First, note that I am not a physician, so I cannot give you medical advise. But it does sound like you need to talk to your doctor about your concerns and questions.
Vyvanse is a long acting stimulant and many adults have told me they've found it helpful for their children and themselves. However, each person reacts differently to meds, so you'll need to work with your doctor on this. You can read more about Vyvanse at their website HERE
Many, if not most adults with ADHD, have co-morbidities such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, etc. and often take multiple medications to cover all the symptoms. Again, you really need to talk to your doctor about your concerns. My understanding is that typically, one would get their bipolar under good control before adding a stimulant. Please call your doctor to see what his thoughts are on all this.
Are you getting your meds prescribed by a psychiatrist? If not, you might want to consult with one, as you do have a lot of things going on that are quite complicated that might be beyond the scope of many primary care physicians.
Regarding drowsiness- I've found that when stimulants make someone drowsy, it sometimes means the dosage is too high. But again, check with your doc!
Hope this helps-
Terry
hi thank you so much for your input. i so have to talk to my dr. about my questions for sure. but it making me drowsy does seem to make sense with what you said, it may be to high a dosage. the only problemm is i also just started taking abilify at the same time as vyvanse, so therefore i don't know which one would be making me so drowsy. does abilify make you that way too? THANKS SO MCUH chattycathy
Hi,
Yes, you really need to talk to your doc- can you call today and leave a message if he's not in?
Health Central has a number of other "sister" sites and I was able to find information about side effects of Abilify HERE. It does include drowsiness!
Hope this helps-
Terry
