The ADD Mind and being "Bored"/Painful!?

Thank you for your post and welcome to ADHDCentral. In a post, "ADHD and Creativity", expert Terry Matlen explains her theory on the link between these two:

"I think we come into adulthood with a unique way of seeing the world because we have to, not necessarily because we were born with more creativity. Because of this unusual way of seeing the world and dealing with nearly daily ADHD collisions, we are more prepared to tackle problems in ways that perhaps those without ADHD are less likely to utilize...simply because they don't have the constant need to use such skills.

Combine this with the fact that most with ADHD hate, absolutely hate being bored, and you have a recipe for a creative thinker. We "become" creative just because...we have to."

There are different viewpoints, but many people with ADHD believe in a definate link, whether it is in creative thinking or creative pursuits.

Thanks again for your post and please continue to post and let us know how you are.

Thank you for your comments.Yes,I would agree....That when our wireing becomes bored,or stuck,ect..out of mear "have to do something",we shift to that creative side, and all ext. fuction goes out the window. Not to ripple out is a hard thing to manage. But learning all the flags that pop up for me,and have to do alot of self talk to pull myself in.So thanks.I beleive I will learn hear, which is another way to not be bored, laughing to myself.Which was key to me not getting down on my self.
