I think we have all shared this experience at some time. When something exciting is about to happen, we find ourselves ready to move mountains and jump into this new adventure with a vengence. Sometimes this is good and we find ourselves ready to tackle the new project or experience with a high amount of energy. Other times, however, we may jump before thinking and end up acting impulsively and not thinking through the process, creating chaos.
Talking yourself through the situation and allowing yourself to balance your reaction and not be overzealous can help to keep reality in check as you have alluded to.
What is new and exciting that is going on in your life? Let us know about the new positive thing that is happening.

My son had ADHD. I suspect my husband has it also. He wont admit it and has never been tested. But I have fought with the compulsion that you have spoke about. Sometimes it is good because he gets the job done but sometimes it is very destructive because he goes to far and doesnt know how to discern between a healthy project and one that is not healthy.
You sound a lot like him. He is into music and plays by ear. I have to introduce the two of you.
Have a good day.

Uhmmm...I mostly go with it. I personally don't have any memory of negative consequences to too much exuberance. But I have gotten sucked into spending too much time at things I enjoy - is that the same thing?

yes, i get excited about lots of stuff, and do a great job when I apply myself for long periods of time, but often, I can't finish the projects.
Sounds like the opposite problem.
