Saturday Sept. 13th 2008,

Hi Everyone, I hope everyone's doing okay, we are doing good ourselves.  These past 2 wks since Labor Day had been kinda rough for me though.  I was having probs. w/focusing at work last week pretty much the whole wk of work (Tues. - Fri., cause of Mon. being Labor Day), this wk @ wrk had been a little better but I was still having probs. focusing a little bit @ wrk.  I had my mnthly one on one session w/the counselor on this past Thurs. the 11th & he asked me "Why are u always so stressed out lately when u have came in for a session", I replied to him "Cause I am".  He asked me if it was wrk, Kaleb (my son), or my brother, I told him that it wasn't my brother & it wasn't really Kaleb either, that it was mostly wrk & that I think that I am begining to get bored w/the job I have now cause I do the same thing every day I go to wrk & I wasn't used to doing the same thing every day at wrk when I was wrking at the gas station.  He then said to me, isn't this job u have now still better than the last one u had, I told him yes it was cause the other job the cowrkers I had stressed me out all the time cause of all the drama that went on in that place on a daily basis.  I also told him that little things at home & at wrk where ticking me off pretty much on a daily basis & that I was getting frustrated very easily & I was having probs. focusing at wrk.  He told me that the Wellbutrin I'm taking was to help me focus, make me not so aggitated & having little things starting to ticking me off, he also asked me what the dosage was of the  Wellbutrin I was taking, I told him the dosage I was taking & he said that, that was the highest dose a Psychiatrist could prescribe to someone.  He also said that it sound like the Wellbutrin isn't doing anything for me anymore & that I might need a meds change, cause he said that some people that after taking a certain med for so long their bodies come accustomed to the med & it doesn't wrk for them anymore as in my case he thinks.  So he put it into his notes that he also passes a copy of to the Psychiatrist that we see, to let her know that he thinks that the Wellbutrin isn't wrking for me anymore & that he thinks that I need a meds change.  The counselor asked when's the next time that u/Kaleb see the Psychiatrist, told him that  my son has an appt. on Sept. 22nd for a meds check.   He said good that way she can/maybe will put me on a completely different med or he said that she might add another med on for me to take along w/the Wellbutrin.  He said that he wasn't for sure on which one she would do cause she's the one who makes those types of decisions & that he just tells the Psychiatrist that he thinks one of his clients may need a meds change or another med added to the one they already take.  The court case that I had the judge decided to go ahead & let me do the paymnt plan that me & my attn. discussed w/the DA @ the DA Pretrial Conference we had back in Aug, if the judge wanted to though he didn't have to go along w/the DA's suggestion, he could of sentenced me to 9 mnths in Jail & a $10,000 fine, but he didn't he went w/the DA's suggestion instead, Thank God.  Kaleb has had a great start to this school year so far, his teacher uses the Stoplight Method for redirecting her stundents when they aren't paying attention or they're misbehaving in class.  She puts a sticker in their Assingment Notebooks each day as to what the got for a color on the Stoplight that day.  Kaleb has gotten 4 grns, 2 yellows & this past Wed. he got a red (which also means that a note came home as well), she has the stundents write a note to their parents on a small piece of red paper as to why they got a red sticker that day.  Well I will let you all for for now & don't worry I'm not to going to quit my job yet either & I have no plans in the near future to quit it either.  I will give you all an update on what the Psychiatrist did w/me & my meds situation in about 2 wks from today.  Take Care, Heather & Kaleb

Heather,

I am glad to hear that you are doing well. It sounds as if you are working through problems. It is important to understand one major problem of ADHD is the inconsistency of it all. Some days (and weeks) will be better than others. To rephrase an old saying: Some days the ADHD gets you and someday you get the ADHD.

On the days the ADHD seems to be winning, take some time to make sure you are taking care of you. Find a few minutes (I know it is hard) to relax. Even five to ten minutes of meditation each day can increase your sense of well-being and help you to cope better with situations that come up.

I will be looking forward to hearing how things have been this week.

Thanks for comment Eileen,

This past week or so have been going better for us & they haven't been so chaotic as they had been @ the begining of this month (when school started back up for the school year).  Kaleb's doing good so far in school (he's had more green days than yellow or red ones).
