getting off adderall

By charity343 Friday, January 01, 2010

I was diagnosed with inattentive ADD as the underlying cause of my panic disorder and have been on 60mg a day for about 2 years. At first it was great. I excelled in school, did great at work, lost a few stingy pounds... then it all went bad. I started needing more that 60mg to get the same effects, became antisocial, got achey when coming down and started abusing pain pills... And now I just want it all to go away and get my normal life back. Unfortunately, now that Ive been on addy for so long, I can barely function or get out of bed without it. The longest Ive been able to manage without relapse is about 1 month. Any advise out there? Im willing to hear anyone out, even if its just to tell me a similar story

Hey there!

I am sorry you are experiencing this.  I think it is totally understandable that you just want to clean the slate and start over.

We don't have a doctor here so at best we can give you some information.

First up...here is general information about Adderall.

And here is a similar question about Adderall which was asked by another member here and our Eileen Bailey gives her response.

If you look at any ADHD forums you are going to find that you are not alone in this.  As with any medication it is never wise to go cold turkey in ceasing to take it.  Did you have any help or guidance from your doctor in coming off of this medication?  My best suggestion is to find a good doctor or therapist to help you through this.  You don't need to suffer like this.

In addition I am going to give you the links to our Anxiety site and our Depression site.

Our communities there will be able to give you support as well.

I hope you do find help with this.  And thank you for reaching out here.
