ADHD or Bipolar?

I am worried about my daughter. She has been diagnosed with ADHD, but I've heard stories of many children being misdiagnosed with ADHD and later being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She acts out all the time and I'm overwhelmed. Should I get a second opinion?

Thank you for your post. One thing I have learned in my many years of living with a son with ADHD, Bipolar w/ severe depression, is that it is so important to have an accurate diagnosis.

By all means, get a second opinion. Not only can ADHD and Bipolar be misdiagnosed, then can exist together. An accurate and complete diagnosis can help you to develop (with the help of your doctors) an effective treatment plan.

Let us know how it is going and what has happened.
