Im a 31 year old mother of three, I have found my ADHD and Dislexia symtoms have not gone away. I m at a point in my life where I want to take a stand and help others like myself struguling to keep up.Im great at creative matters and motivating others. Being organized is very important, I find that writing things down really helps. If I could go back in time I wish I could have been treated properly for this.Dont let this hapen to your kids.

It is important for patients to receive an accurate diagnosis and medical treatment to manage the symptoms of ADHD.  It is equally important for patients, and their families, to have a support system available. The support of a community provides a place to be accepted, to share triumphs and failures, to swap ideas and strategies for coping with ADHD on a daily basis.  Through this community, people can take a proactive role in managing symptoms and creating successes in their lives.  Health Central is such a community.

I hope that you find this site to be helpful in your situation and please feel free to email me should you have any questions.

Thank you for sharing your ongoing challenges. There is not enough awareness of the challenges of Adult ADHD. Many baby boomers were never diagnosed with this because it was called MBD (minimal brain dysfunction) in the 1950's and 60's and thought to be untreatable. Then when treatment became available many boomers could not get it because they did not have a (non-existent diagnosis) when they were a kid. I was not able to begin taking meds until I was in my 50's as I became insistent when my life stresses grew and the condition worsened. Good luck to you. Many of us find that the symptoms worsen in adulthood.
