Thank you for mentioning homeschooling as an option. It is more of a time and energy committment but ADHD treatment is much more effective when the parent is highly involved in their child's education. Therapeutic Boarding Schools can be a nice option if you have the money or can get a grant/scholarship.
Some parents are looking for an ADHD boot camp for kids because they mistakenly think it will be a magic pill. There is no magic pill. Tough love (heavy on the love part) with appropriate training is the key. Train up your ADHD child in what the Holy Scriptures call for in Proverbs 22:6, "the Way" and he when he is old, he will not depart from it.
I really enjoyed your article about ADHD and learning.
Grand River Academy is a unique school that specialized in working with underachieving students. Many of our students have been diagnosed with ADHD and benefit from our small classes sizes (average 7), the individual attention and our mission which focuses on getting kids back on track. Our teachers live on campus and understand the learning needs of our students...the Academy has been around for 180 years and our academic niche is very specific.
Our students often benefit from a second chance; a change of environment, learning how to study, and gaining knowledge for their future is imperative for their success. College acceptance is a graduation requirement and we strive to help students reach their potential; academically, socially and athletically!
