I was recently diagnosed with adult adhd. As a child going through school I did medocre and found more value in getting as much attention from the other kids in my class rather than in retaining the abmundance of knowledge I was there to learn.
I have suffered from allergies since I was born and had never explored the chance that in some way it could be realated to adhd. Knowing now that there could be some relation between the two, I feel some what relieved knowing that I could possibly solve this problem once and for all.
Is there anyone who knows what I should do in persuing a remedy for both of these symptomes? My allergy pills need to have the decongestant, as I wake up every day and can not breathe out of my nose and consistantly have head aches related to my sinus congestion. Would marrying my allergy medication with a herbal product for adhd be ok for my body or would it be detrimental to my cause?
Please help me find a way to live my life!!!
www.feingold.org Do you have dark circles under your eyes? You may also have food allergies/sensitivities.
This has changed my son's life & gotten rid of his eczema, all without meds. I am so thankful for the Feingold association and the late Dr. Benjamin Feingold, who 40 years ago as an allergist noted a link between add/adhd symptoms and the food (and chemical additives) we consume. His research is on the site.
you may want to try sinus flushing. neilmed is a good brand that doesnt burn your nose. it is nasty but very effective. the allergist i worked for sweares by this and i can say that it has worked for me and my 5yr old (he has been doing it since he was 3 1/2 so keep that in mind if you are reluctent to try this). it is basicly a salt water nasal douch so it is safe, natural, and wont react with any other meds. this will atleast give you some relief until you have the oppertunity to explore other things. good luck.
I think this a good, timely reminder of watching what medications we use with our children, or ourselves, and how each drug may interact with another. Too many over the counter drugs are used so widely that I believe we assume they are safe and cannot cause unpleasant effects.
There can be physical, mental and emotional effects which we do not even think about attributing to allergy or cold medicines and as you say, on top of specialized drugs for treating ADD, the good of these drugs can be changed.
Curious that a tenuous link is presented by some between allergies and the wide field of ADD. But then, why not? All things should be considered. Thanks for the reminder, Merely Me.
