As an older adult recently diagnosed with Asperger's Sydrome, I have to deal with ADD/ADHD like symptoms for almost 50 years.  The technique I have to developed to cope with any lecture situation is that of bringing a large notebook to take notes and also controlled doodling. 

The doodling needs to be very repetitious so that nothing is missed of the lecture and is preferred to be done elsewhere from the notes.  Prior to developing the technique, I was a hazard in church because I discuss thesermon an not miss a part but was a distraction to those around me.
