My son Lawrence started kindergarten last year. It was kind of tough on him. The class was three hours long, and they only had a short, ten minute recess about halfway through. And unlike pre-school, there was a curriculum that had to be completed by the end of the year. Goodbye Show and Tell, hello ...

    wow...how about that?

So...no side effects?  And he is calmer?  It makes you wonder why one drug would not work but this one does.  It is like for my son...the Prozac helps him so much but for me...the side effects did me in.  I am wondering about giving my son something like Riitalin...I dunno.

My son's neurologist suggest Klonopin for him but...I am very unsure.

I will be eagerly reading your story to see what happens next.  I am just happy you possibly found something which helps.  That is really great.

Thanks for writing about your experiences...they are especially helpful to me.

So far there aren't any side effects, and we're on the eighth week. According to him, he hasn't had time outs in class anymore, and he's getting great results on spelling tests. I haven't seen any math tests yet. Next week is parent-teacher conferences, so I guess we'll see.

I know that Ritalin works differently than your garden variety stimulant, although I have to say I was skeptical that there would be a difference, but there you go.

Klonopin? Really? That's for seizures and panic disorders. I know I was prescribed it at one point in my life, I assume for panic disorder, although to be honest, I don't remember having a diagnosis.
