I have 2 boys , they are 11 and 2. My oldest has ADHD, I think I have ADD but not to a point of altering my quality of life. My son w/ Adhd has exibited signs since he began walking at 8 1/2 months old. He has been accused of possibly having it since he started Kindergarten. I had him tested when he was in 3rd grade and he was found to have it with a more impulsive behavior more so than the hyper part of it. He has always been hyper, but has gradually settled down some. His main issues are impulsiveness, disrespectful attitude towards authority, and frequent mild to moderate injuries ( a by product of his impulsive behavior. His high points are that he is creative, maintains A's and B's,has a good heart and is a great big brother. He is now in the 5th grade. He drives me crazey but I love him with all my heart and I am currently looking into all of the resources available so that I can help him have a good life and do well in our society. I hate teachers who could care less and write off my son as a bad kid then continually reprimand him for his CONDITION!! I have only known 1 teacher in his 6 years of school that was helpful and caring. If only there were more out there like her. God bless that women for one good year (1st grade). I hope there will someday be a better understanding of this syndrome and better treatments. My 2 year old "knock on wood" has not shown signs of ADHD as of yet and he is a complete opposite of my 11 year old.
