Evelyn Polk Green, ADDA President-Elect    I cannot believe this! I had ¾—no, 7/8 of my next blog post completed, and just a little ahead of deadline no less, when my computer decided to eat it! Is there anything worse than the dreaded ‘program not responding' ...

As a college student with ADHD, the best thing I could do for myself -- better than getting on (and then later getting off) adderall -- was toss my windows PC and buy a mac. They crash a quarter as much, don't get viruses, and are geared to work the way our brains work. I've five times as productive as I was on that prescription speed called adderall.

    Hi Evelyn,

I actually responded to this blog article in your very first post. Sorry, I didn't take note at the time how I was reading the posts from last to original.

I can understand your frustration at losing your writing, especially after a hard day and it being so late in the evening. Happened to me many times, the worst being an assignment due for uni. I didn't start my essay until late the evening before it was due, worked 14 hours on it and how I lost it, I have no idea!!

People assume that it's relatively easy to re-write what you've already written but I find that I've forgotten half of what I was talking about because I'd spent so much time re-arranging my words around and making sure my grammar was correct and I wasn't using a whole paragraph to explain something, which a mere sentence could do just as well, etc.. etc..

Recently I lost 7 hours of writing a new topic on a ADHD support site. That was incredibly annoying as I'd basically given a run down on a decade of my life any poured my heart out. NOT doing that again!!

I'm glad you were more happier with your second article. It's always nice when you can find a positive amongst the negative. Doesn't do the old self-esteem harm either when satisfaction for achievement is obtained.

    Cheers, Michele
