About Me

I am a 40 something recovering addict diagnosed with adult ADHD. I had been self medicating from the age of 11-12. So many things are becoming clear to me about my addiction and my ADHD. The symptoms mirror each other so closely its unreal. Unfortunatley ADD/ADHD when I was a child went undiagonsed, itswas thought of as just being hyper. My mother didn't believe that ADHD was a real disorder until I gave her some literature to read. Once she read it I saw the lightbulb go on, and she agreed that all the things written were definately me. I know that she was also relieved that it wasn't anything that she had done that caused me to become an addict. I am having a hard time figuring out what part is the addiction and what part is the ADHD. It is very frustrating. I hope I can find, and give some help here. I am looking forward to learning better how to cope with this whole package. Anyone with the same backround please feel free to contact me.
