I think my son might have adhd, how long will take for diagnoise

im worried about my son, i believe he has adhd, he been on waiting list since last sept 08.

finally ive got our first appointment with pychartrist on tuesday.

 

He not doing well at school, hes 9yrs old and is constantly getting into trouble at school,

he finds it hard to concentrete and get distracted quiet quick.

 

i really need expert advice, i cant sleep at night.

 

how long will it take for diagnoise?

Thank you for your question and welcome to ADHDCentral. Although I would not be able to give you an exact answer on how long it will take to have a psychiatrist diagnose your son, I can provide you with some information on the diagnostic process.

 

There is no clinical test for ADHD. It is generally diagnosed through observation and questionnaires completed by both parents and teachers. This provides the doctor with enough information to determine if ADHD is present.
