Can you convince someone that your symptoms of ADD are not excuses or insults?

I had a co-worker today (this isn't the first time) tell me that I use the "excuse" of being ADD to explain my forgetfulness and lack of ability to organize my work space. Also, I was talking to my students about some problems we have in our classroom (I am a teacher). I wanted to talk to them…
