Q: my 8 year old son has been diagnosed with ADHD by a neuro psychologist. His neurologist has started

my 8 year old son has been diagnosed with ADHD by a neuro psychologist. His neurologist has started treating him with Keppra syrup 2ml (200 mg) every night. In addition he is being given atomoxetine 10 mg twice a day. Is keppra an accepted drug for ADHD? Doe anyone have similar experience? I am from Chennai, India

Keppra is a medication most often used to treat epilepsy and other seizure disorders. I have not heard of it being used to treat ADHD, however, sometimes doctors will prescribe medication off-label if they feel it will be beneficial.

 

Atomoxetine (Strattera) is a medication used to treat ADHD.
