My daughter is 6 months old. I also have a 3 year old son. I didn't take my meds while pregnant or while breastfeeding the first time around. Things are decidedly more chaotic with two kids. I'm strongly considering taking meds again. Does anybody have any information to share about breastfeeding and taking ritalin? I figure (and my doctor advises) taking short-acting meds and then waiting 3-4 hrs before nursing or giving her a bottle of formula for a couple of feeds. Just wondering what other info is out there and what experiences others have had. Thanks!

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to provide you with medical advice. It sounds as if you have already discussed this with your doctor and he or she is trying to find a solution that will work for you as well as protect your baby.
There is limited research on this subject as many researchers and patients do not want to risk the health of their child to take medications that may be harmful. Some research has shown that if, as your doctor suggests, if you wait for several hours after taking a short acting medication, it should be safe for your child.
