My daughter has ADHD and Bipolar.  She's 10 years old and has been on Adderall XR and Lithium for 4-5 years now.  The meds work great but she's only 3'11' and 52 lbs.  Has the meds done this to her?  Will she ever catch up or at least get to 5 feet or more?  Should I worry?  Is there something that I should do?  From a mom who's just a little worried. Thanks

Hi Stacy,

Thanks for your question.

There is some controversy over this concern and I wrote a SharePost on the topic just a few months ago. Please read "Do Stimulants Stunt Growth?"

In the meantime, it's essential to discuss your concerns with your daughter's doctor.

Dr Daniel Amen mentions in his excellent book "Healing ADD" that stimulants "may" stunt growth of a child initially, but they usually catch up later.  If you are the "book reading" type, you might find it very useful to go through this book once.
