I think they are as a parent and a person with adult ADHD. They are timed released which means you are not cycling up and down during the day from the shorter acting meds. I think it keeps my son on a more even keel all though the day. It is easier for parents and students to remember to take one pill in the morning. I take Adderal XR in the a.m. and I have another pill (pain med) I have to take 3 times a day, and it is very hard to remember to day that midday pill. The thing that helps me to remember is the increase in my pain levels when I miss taking it on time.

My son takes Vyvanse and it is good for 10-12 hours for him.  He takes all his meds with his breakfast. Just make sure you take it early enough for them to be able to eat and to sleep at night.

I think the meds that are longer lasting work better for the child then the ones that wear off sooner. my children report good things to me when they are on them.check with the doctor and ask them what they recomend.
