Strattera is a "common" medication prescribed for ADD, but not as common as stimulants such as Concerta, Ritalin, Adderall, etc.  Strattera takes time to build up in the system and should not be started and stopped intermitently.  It is not the right medication if you plan to have your child take "medication holidays."  Medications effect each of us differently, so there can be a bit of trial and error to find the right one for any given individual.  Best wishes!
