Q: Question about major depression/anxiety/panic disorder -maybe some of it is ADHD?

I have been being treated for many years for major depression, anxiety and panic disorder.  I am considered to have treatment-resistant depression and don't get much relief though I have had ECT and many different drug combinations over the years.  I have trouble concentrating, focusing, following through, remembering, and am constantly nervous - wonder if maybe I have adult onset ADHD and that is why I am not improving the way I should with my depression treatment.

Thank you for your quesion and welcome to ADHDCentral.com.

Depression and ADHD have many overlapping symptoms, such as the ones you mentioned: trouble concentrating and focusing. It is also possible, and common, for someone to have both ADHD and depression.

There are some online screening tests for ADHD. These should not be used for diagnostic purposes but you can print out the results and take with your doctor as a way to start a discussion, if the online screening points to a possibility of ADHD.

I hope this helps.
