Wednesday, March 11, 2009 Mary asks

Q: I live in the surrounding Rockford, IL area and need help finding a good ADD doc.

Unfortunatley, I got laid off so I have public aide insurance, which in my experience has lead me to bad doctors.  So hopefully someone can help me find a doctor that accepts public aide or has a slidding scale and is good and compassionate.

I have been living with ADD all my life and never got help with it.  I am 35 now and have always had a terrible time getting to work ontime and have been depressed on and off for years.   I have trouble paying attention, but because I am an adult now, I can more or less control myself and make myself pay attention.  Although it doesn't always work.

Thanks so much

Mary

Thank you for your question and welcome to ADHDCentral.com

I am not from your area and so would not be able to provide you with doctors that may be able to help you. I can, however, give you some resources to help you locate a doctor.

To find some referrals to physicians or medical professionals in your area, you can contact local support groups for ADHD. To find a local support group, visit CHADD and ADDA websites.

You may need to contact the doctor's offices to see if they will accept your public aide insurance.

Another place to find doctors specializing in or treating ADHD is ADDConsults.com. There is a directory on the site.

I hope this information helps.

Eileen
