Grandmother to a 7 year old diagnosed with ADHD.

My grandson is 7 years old and was diagnosed ADHD in March of 2007.  He is on Focalin XR 10 mg and this was started after Ritalin.  He is now in an optional school in Memphis, TN and they are ready to kick him out.  He has problems obeying teachers and runs off from teachers a lot.  He was scheduled for a follow up visit to the Psychologist but was in Alabama in June when he was scheduled.  His mother and school has a IDEA 504 plan but he has been at this school for only a month he was transferred from his other school to attend this school  Please give me suggestions or advice on what to do?  He has to attend school and this placement is not working.  Thanks.  Theresa

I HAVE A GRANDSON WHO HAS HAD ADHD ABOUT 3 YEARS.  HE HAS BEEN ON MANY ADHD MEDICATIONS, NOTHING HAS WORKED EXCEPT ADDERAL.  I WOULD TRY HIM ON 10MG. AT FIRST.  MY GRANDSON IS 10 YEARS OLD AND THE ADERALL HAS WORKED SO FAR BUT HAS NOT WORKED AS WELL THIS YEAR.  WE REFUSE TO UP HIS DOSAGE.  WE MAY TRY TAKING HIM OFF ON WEEKENDS AND GIVE HIS BODY A BREAK, THEN PUT HIM BACK ON IT ON MONDAY.  IT DOES BUILD UP IN THEIR SYSTEM. DONT LET THE SCHOOL OR YOUR DAUGHTER GIVE UP ON YOUR GRANDSON.  HE CAN BE HELPED.  SCHOOLS DO NOT LIKE TO BE BOTHERED WITH A CHILD WITH A PROBLEM.  BUT HE HAS THE RIGHT TO AN EDUCATION IN AMERICA, AND HE CAN DO IT WITH THE RIGHT MEDICATION AND GOOD TREATMENT AT SCHOOL.  WHY DOES HE HAVE A 504 NOT AND IEP?
