Q: why is my son allucinating

My son is ADHD, and he is taking 30mg of Focalin everyday in the Morning, but lately he has been behaving very bad in school, and today the counselor called me telling me that he was acting as a cartoon Figure and that he just wouldn't respond to him appropriately, and that it really concerned them because he just woulnd't respont to their questions and just kept thinking that he was this cartoon figure. The Dr. went from 20mg up to 30mg, first he was going 5 to 5.

Alejandra,

I am not sure from your question if the doctor increased the medication before or after this incident. If you have not already, please call your doctor to discuss this behavior with him.

There is more information on Focalin here. It does state in this information that the normal dose is 20mg or less. It also states that for mental or mood changes, you should contact your doctor immediately.

Please let us know how it is going.

hey there! My son just started Focalin at the beginning of the week and so far he hasn't done very well on it. He has has alot of crying spells and acting really obbessed. Today after school he kept asking alot of questions and complaining of itching all over.. I give up when it comes to this type of medication. My son is only on 10mg. Good luck, I would really call his doctor though. I didn't think focalin could go up that high?
