Hi Kimberly:

Kids are using Adderall and other ADD meds for many things, including losing weight. It is a stimulant and one of the side effects of taking a stimulant is weight loss. Unfortunately, it can be a dangerous game, since it also changes how the brain works. If you know any kids who are taking it, they are doing so illegally and you should talk with their parents about it. Taking too much can cause panic attacks, or even a heart attack.

I hope this helps,

Dr. Diana Walcutt
