Dear Laurel,
I would definitely recommend calling the manufacturer of the medications you have been prescribed. I think, however, if they pay for the meds, a doctor has to write a prescription for them; then, they send the free meds to the doctor who writes the prescriptions. You might want to ask your Primary Care Physician if he would be willing to write the prescriptions without charging you money to do that.
Another thought that came to mind, was to go to your local community health care office, where you can get doctor's visits on a sliding scale, based on your income.
My doctors are usually willing to write me prescriptions with 11 refills on them, so that I don't have to go see them all the time. There are certain medications in which you cannot get 11 refills, but the majority of medications you might need, should allow for you to get 11 refills (without having to see the doctor).
I hope this is helpful for you. Let me know if you would like any more detailed information about this.
Best of luck to you,
Kay
