after looking up drug interaction guides and the use of antidepressants with adderall xr, most of the ones my doctor has prescribed claim thay should not be co-administered; ie;cymbalta, lexapro. are the drug interaction websites overly cautious? is it okay to use them anyway? I really feel i need to be on an antidepressant, should i be weaned off the adderall first?

Hi Lauraloo,
Many adults with ADHD also have depression and take meds for both conditions. They often take a stimulant for the ADHD and an antidepressant for the depression. However, I am not a physician and therefore cannot tell you what meds would work for your particular case and what the risks are of combining both types of medications.
The web is an incredible resource, however, such questions are best answered by discussing them with your doctor.
