Medications for ADHD are not a cure and do not take away all symptoms of ADHD. It is important to combine medication with some types of behavior modification. This combination has been found to be the most effective treatment.
If you have tried this as well as medication and still feel you are not making any progress or as if you have indicated, behaviors seem to be getting worse, you may want to start back at the beginning and ask for a complete psychiatric evaluation for your child. Having an accurate diagnosis is very important in finding the correct treatment plan.
